Workplace ostracism, paranoid employees and service performance: a multilevel investigation

Purpose Drawing on the literature victim precipitation theory, workplace ostracism (WO) and paranoia, this paper examines mediating role of WO paranoia–service performance (SP) relationship. This further postulates that team cognitive diversity (TCD) moderates paranoia–WO Design/methodology/approach Data were collected from 228 nurses a leading hospital located in an eastern province China. Hypotheses developed tested using multivariate hierarchical linear modeling (HLM). Findings had negative effect SP, while TCD positive WO. Cognitive moderated relationship, such relationship was stronger when group high. Originality/value develops tests model exploring antecedents its SP.
